The Beverly Hillbillies was an instant hit and
ranked as the number one television series its
first two years on-air. The theme song, "The
Ballad of Jed Clampett," was composed by Lester
Flatt and Earl Scruggs, country musicians who
occasionally guest starred on the series playing
themselves.
