Cows
are one of the most important animals that people
rely on. We get our cheese, milk and meat from
these great big animals. Today's domesticated
cattle are descendents of a primitive form of
ox that lived in europe and the middle east
in the bc time period. They were called Aurochs
and they used to live in forests.
No one knows when cows were first
domesticated by humans but we do know that at
about 2750 bc there were different types of
domesticated cattle. The same ones that are
around today.

Today
there are hundreds of different types of cattle
breeds found in the world. Different types of
cows are used for different purposes. Some are
used for milk, while others are raised for their
beef meat. Farmer continue to breed different
types of cattle today to get better producing
ones.
