The reason people dress up for Halloween is because of old superstitions. The spirits and ghosts of the dead are supposed to be out on All Hallows eve, which is October 31st. So if you dress up, you will scare the ghosts before they get a chance to scare you.

My favorite part of Halloween is the pumpkin carving. I love to get creative and make three pumpkin carvings every year. One is a happy pumpkin, one is sad and the third is scary. Even my dog is afraid of the scary one, he runs and hides behind my dad's car when he sees the scary pumpkin. Then he barks.
