For most of human history there were only two ways to travel on land, either on your feet or by horse. The horse has been a very important domesticated animal for humans. Just as important as the cow for milk and meat and the dog for companionship. With the advent of the car, horses have become a romantic object and escape the practicality of life, today.

Today people ride horses as a leasure activity, but in the past they were used for everything from ploughing fields, pulling carts and as general transportation. At one time they were very reliable and people thought they would never be replaced.

The benefits of using cars, tractors and other man made devices are evident all around us. Horses are tempormental and require constant attention. They have to be washed, fed and broken in. So then why do we still domesticate them?
