The
Jetsons live in Skypad Apartments in the 21st
Century, when automation and robotic gadgets
make life easier but no less comic. A scant
24 episodes were produced for the original series,
which ran one season (1962-63) in prime-time
on ABC. In spite of this short run, The Jetsons
have remained fixtures on the TV landscape ever
since.
The
Space-Age family consists of George Jetson (voiced
by George O’Hanlon); his boy Elroy (Daws Butler);
Daughter Judy (Janet Waldo); Jane, his wife
(Penny Singleton); not to mention Astro their
faithful dog (Don Messick), and the ever-suffering
maid Rosey the Robot (Jean VanderPyl).

THE
JETSONS WERE THE THIRD HANNA-BARBERA CARTOON
TO AIR IN PRIME TIME. SORT OF A FUTURISTIC FLINTSTONES,
THE FAMILY CONSISTED OF GEORGE JETSON THE FATHER,
JANE,HIS WIFE, DAUGHTER JUDY, HIS BOY ELROY,
THEIR TALKING DOG ASTRO, & A ROBOT MAID NAMED
ROSEY. EVEN THOUGH EVERYTHING IS MADE SIMPLE
BY PUSH BUTTON CONTROL, EVERYONE SEEMS TO THINK
IT'S HARD WORK. GEORGE WORKS FOR SPACELY SPROCKETS,
A COMPANY THAT MAKES.....SPROCKETS.
AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, SPROCKETS ARE GEARS. SPACLEY
SPROCKETS MAIN COMPETITION IS COGWELL COGS.
THEY MAKE COGS WHICH ARE ALSO GEARS. ALMOST
EVERY SHOW, MR. SPACELY, A SHORT BALDING CHUBBY
GUY WHO HAPPENS TO BE GEORGES BOSS, FIRES GEORGE
FOR A STUPID REASON. BUT, HE ALWAYS HAS HIS
JOB BACK BY EITHER THE END OF THE EPISODE OR
THE BEGINNING OF THE NEXT ONE. MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS
ARE UNIBLAB, A ROBOT WHO WAS GEORGE'S BOSS FOR
ONE EPISODE & IN ANOTHER EPISODE, HE WAS GEORGE'S
DRILL SARGEANT.
