The Real Ghostbusters stars the characters from the hit movies, Ray Stanz, Peter Venkman, Winston Zedmore, Egon Spengler, Janine Melnitz, and Slimer, yes Slimer. The Ghostbusters live in an old firehouse, and drive, of all things, a hearse for the Ecto 1 (the name of their car).

The cartoon series of the Ghostbusters is called "The Real Ghostbusters". The only reason why it wasn't just called Ghostbusters is because, a kids show in the 1970's was aired by Filmation, and they called it Ghostbusters. I'm not too sure exactly what the show was about, but DIC/Columbia Pictures decided to call their cartoon series The Real Ghostbusters I guess it was to avoid a legal battle with Filmation over the rights of "Ghostbusters".
