This has always been my favorite cartoon short series. The original 7-minute shorts for this cat and mouse duo were created during the early to mid nineteen-forties. In the the mid-seventies the show made it to television and was syndicated.

However, it wasn't too successful in a television format and was cancelled. This show has been immitaded by Itchy and Scratchy from the Simpsons. This is where the Simpsons borrowed their idea for that segment of their show. But Tom & Jerry have an appeal that goes beyond Sylvester and Tweety because their humor doesn't rely on voices, instead it is purely visual.
