The setup: Xavier is recruiting mutant teenagers for his school and training them to use his powers. So is Magneto. Magneto is secretly using the high school run by Mystique to recruit his own teenagers. Mystique is caught in the middle because Xavier funds her high school and made her principal, yet he knows she's working with Magneto, his enemy.

I believe this show was made to coincide with the live action movie so the characters look similar to the movie actors. Making them kids was okay, but really they don't seem to be suffering with all of these powers. I can't tell the difference between them and regular teenagers (trust me I've seen real life teens with more problems than these guys).
